Our requests and suggestions
In remembrance of Mandar Vedghoshe, and as the real tribute to him, we commit ourselves to prevent accidents in water-bodies.

Short-Term / Immediate Action:

  1. De-watering of the water body to study the contours and the nature of uneven depth at various places. This can be done by opening out the bund or providing gate at appropriate level.
  2. Providing at least two security guards, for at least two shifts till proper safety measures are executed.
  3. Providing effective sign-boards, at least three of 10 Ft x 20 Ft size, well mounted on steel pillars.
  4. Increasing the police force at the police station.
  5. Provision of alarm system at the site.
  6. Fast communication with the police/fire brigade through wireless system.
  7. Avaitabdity of ambulance and first-aid.
  8. Instructions should be to the ambulance staff and the police that in cases of emergency they must first approach the nearest medical facility éven if it is a private hospital or a clinic They should not insist on taking the patients to govt. hospitals.

Medium / Long term solutions:

  1. Filling the extra depth and maintaining proper gradient for water over-flow from the dam.
  2. Providing chain link fence (2"x 1") along with barbed wire fencing, around the water body and along road side.
  3. Strengthening security and coordination with the Forest Dept., Police, Fire Brigade, Hospital and the Irrigation Dept.
  4. Providing tower for mobile ensuring that strong signals are available in all the areas frequented by visitors, at various levels.
  5. Availability of life-guards / divers, properly trained.
  6. Involvement of the local community in ensuring safety of the visitors.
  7. Handing over the site to the Tourism Department of Madhya Pradesh, which can develop the same into a safe recreational property. The department will then also be able to generate revenue from such a beautiful site, already popular amongst the people. The Department of Ecotourism is already running a similar venture, "Jungle Camp", just about a kilometer near the said water-body.
